Description
Like all the land bitter and ungenerous, even Maremma, with its wild nature arouses extreme feelings, and that's why in us is born "maldimaremma." The company, about 200 ha (around 500 acres) of cultivated land, is situated at the foot of Castel di Pietra Hill, where the vicissitude of Pia De' Tolomei, sung by Dante Alighieri in Canto V of Purgatory, took place. As a natural frame to the farm there are the Bruna River, which flows from Accesa Lake, an ancient Etruscan site, and the tree-lined avenue of secular cypresses, that, along 4 kms, leeds the traveler to destination.
After several years in which we concentrated our energies on the "restoration" of the fields, with the same passion and expertise, we now turn to the restoration of buildings. The result of the first phase of this work is Podere Chiesa, where 16 guests in 3 apartments and 5 confortable double rooms, can take a delight sharing with us our idea of countrylife enjoying peace and quiet of a land steeped in centuries of history.
The guest house is called Podere Chiesa because, at a time when the Fattoria of Castel di Pietra was the beating heart of a large and populous farm, inside there was a room used for religious functions. Built in late 1800, with stones gathered from the fields and the ruins of the castle, has in its proportions the balace of surrounding nature.
