Description
Rifugio degli Dei, rose from what was an ancient rural house built in the middle of the 8 century by our great-grandfathers, who, with knowledge and passion, were dedicated to the cultivation and care of the vast olive groves, gardens and animals that surrounded this special place. Ideal for an holiday in Positano, it was perfectly reconstructed in 2007 and particular attention was paid to preserving the architectural character typical of the Amalfi Coast and of Positano, such as the vaulted ceilings and “gaveta”, chestnut-wood architraves and slaked plaster walls. The old building whit its olive grove is located in Positano in the quarter known as Arienzo in the “Parco dei Monti Lattari” and few minutes from the famous trekking site “Sentiero degli dei”, with around 250 stairs from the main road and illuminated path surrounded by the green Mediterranean undergrowth to reach it. From the apartments and terrace of the country house, one enjoys an exceptional panoramic view, where the mesmerizing beauty of Positano, the island of Li Galli, Punta Campanella and Capri, lie before you – all this within a space of absolute tranquility. Granny Elia, her daughter Anna and four grand-children happily welcome their guests into an atmosphere truly warm and friendly, eager to share their tiny piece of paradise in one of the most romantic cities in the world. The Country House, surrounded by olive groves and bush in this enchanting corner of Positano, has been divided into three apartments, Poseidone, Dioniso, Afrodite, and have been simply, yet tastefully, furnished, with particular care given to maintaining classic architectural details found historically along the Amalfi Coast. The access to the apartments is through a hall which allows entry from the outside and which also leads to garden-solariums where one will find sun-beds laid out. Each garden provides a spectacular panoramic view over Positano and all the ramifications of the Sorrento and Amalfi peninsula’s, all the way to the Isle of Capri. Breakfast can be served in the dining room situated on the first floor, where one is surrounded by the warmth generated by the fire-place during the cooler seasons, or during the warmer months, on the vast panoramic terrace in front of the dining room where the sun gently kisses one awake.
Thanks to its ideal situation between mountains and sea, Positano and the Amalfi Coast offer hiking enthusiasts and nature-lovers numerous possibilities to enjoy the breathtaking views, which through the centuries, have enticed many a painter, writer and poet from around the world. The “Rifugio degli Dei” is the perfect place from which to embark on various trekking excursions and walk, for example, from Arienzo one can take the stairs up to the small village of Nocelle from which it is easy to find one’s way to the “Sentiero degli Dei”, the Path of the Gods, an approximate 11 km walk which will delight one’s senses, or perhaps even the “Alta Via dei Monti Lattari”, the High Road of Monti Lattari, which brings one to the Parco dei Monti Lattari. Following a path, in around 10 minutes one can reach the oasis of “Vallone Porto” with its waterfalls and numerous species of fauna and flora indigenous to this valley – wild orchids, ferns, falcons, owls, amphibians (including to this yellow-eyed salamander) – all of which provide an inestimable wealth of natural beauty to this area.
