Our house is situated at the foot of Monte della Crescia near the town of Osimo, the centre of which is only seven kilometres away, and has splendid 360° views ranging from the surrounding countryside and hills to the Sibillini mountains and Gran Sasso, and further north Montefeltro.

Osimo, a town of ancient and noble origins, is well worth visiting; an interesting “bi-polar” town which spreads over two hills but also conceals a mysterious underground labyrinth of over nine kilometres, part of which can be visited.

Castelfidardo, situated 14 Km away on a hill 212 m above sea level between the valleys of the rivers Aspio and Musone, has a unique Accordion Museum, the only one in Italy, and is of great historical importance for its role in the Risorgimento.

We are located at the edge of the so-called “land of the castles” or fortified hill towns, which include Agugliano, Offagna, Camerata Picena, Polverigi and Santa Maria Nuova, medieval centres rich in history, art and local festivals, and all between 5 and 15 kilometres away.

Loreto, with its Sanctuary dedicated to the Virgin Mary and its elegant buildings and palaces, and Recanati, birthplace and home town of Giacomo Leopardi, are only 14 kilometres away.

The Conero Regional Park is located at 20 to 30 kilometres from the house, and covers an enchanting stretch of coast between Ancona and Porto Recanati as well as the Roman towns of Numana and Sirolo.

Still within a radius of about 30 kilometres are Ancona, Macerata, Jesi and countless other interesting towns and medieval centres, all worthy of a visit for their architectural heritage and their atmosphere evoking the past.

Last but not least, the entire region is famous for its typical products ( wine, oil, cheese and salami), cultural and folk events ( food and medieval festivals), as well as very reasonably-priced business outlets selling designer products and small craftwork shops.

The Airone Country House is the latest restoration of a Marches-region farm-house which dates back centuries.
Besides our own home, it consists of 3 self-contained rooms each with bathroom , a small indipendent apartment with bathroom and kitchen suitable also for the disabled, a fully-equipped restaurant and kitchen. Outdoors there are wide porticos, a barbecue area, a 60 square metre swimming pool, a small orchard and a garden to produce organic crops, as well as broad shady lawns and a play area for children.
Finally, there is the restaurant, exclusively reserved for guests, which retains the structure of the old farm-house but has a comfortable, multi-ethnic atmosphere, offering home-cooking using local organic produce.
The house has been refurbished in an eco-friendly way.


OUR ROOMS
The rooms, each decorated in an original and different way, are designed according to the theories of Feng Shui and contain every possible convenience, including bathroom with shower cabin, independent heating/cooling system, fridge, electronic safe and satellite television.
- One-heron room
Double room with one double bed. Facing south, it is decorated in orange to recall the warmth of bright sunlight.
- Two-heron room
Triple room with one double bed and a single bed placed in a space apart. Facing north, the predominant colour is sky-blue, reminiscent of water, symbol of relaxation, reflection and spirituality.
- Three-heron room
Room for four persons with one double bed ( or two twin beds) and a bunk bed for two. The subtle green hues of the main wall and the furnishings contribute to a sense of peace and well-being.
- Four-heron room
Small independent apartment, suitable also for disabled people. It consists of a room with a double bed (or two twin beds), a lounge with a comfortable sofa bed for two, a fully-furnished dining and kitchen area, and a spacious well-equipped bathroom.
Careful furnishing and plenty of space allow ease of movement, independence and comfort.

RESTAURANT

The attractive restaurant has original, multi-ethnic furnishings collected over the years by Francesco and Rosanna from around the world.
Even the cooking is a reflection of a wealth of experience: Francesco and Rosanna are both convinced of the goodness of natural products and offer their guests healthy food and organic produce, with dishes that, though influenced by their culinary knowledge of other places and ingredients, still have their roots in “home” cooking “for the family” ; fresh seasonal produce picked straight from the organic garden or acquired from local farmers, legumes, meat and fish, a wide variety of colours, flavours and aromas …… and a pinch of international imagination.
Although possible alternatives may be arranged, a varied and delicious fixed menu can be enjoyed, from the starter to the dessert and ‘digestive’ liqueur. And in fine weather there is a large grill and oven outdoors to be used.
