The Violina estate owes its name to lady Violini, the matriarch of a middle-class family who, at the beginning of the 19th century, gave it its distinctive status of wine-producing estate.
Situated in Monferrato, a few kilometres away from the city of Asti, the Violina estate witnessed the passage of Napoleon's troops, the creation of the Kingdom of Italy and the Country's social and economic transformations; nevertheless it remained deeply rooted in its rural heritage.
Thanks to the recent restoration work carried out on its large farmhouse, the Violina estate has become the ideal place where to enjoy leisure time in the most authentic and genuine way, thus perfectly meeting the requirements of top quality tourism.
The Violina estate stretches over 11 hectares reproducing all the richness and beauty of the Monferrato landscape. As it would be for a tiny old hamlet, the large farmhouse and the little consecrated church overlook, from the top of a hill, the vineyards producing that variety of Barbera which is then aged in cellars carved out of tuff. In the valley, vegetable gardens and orchards are cultivated with organic treatments. To complete the picture are century-old woods providing cool in the summer heat.
The recent conservative rehabilitation work, allows the Violina estate to shine in all its original splendour. Valuable frescoes and antique decorations, crackling fireplaces and extreme attention to every small detail, all contribute to create its unique atmosphere.
The farmhouse, over 2,000 sq.m. of constructed surface, included the porticoes, is on three levels: the kitchens and the breakfast and dining rooms, a music room and a reading room are on the first level; the bedrooms, the billiard room and the library can be found on the second floor; a sauna, a gym and the children playroom are all available on the third floor.
A cellar carved out of tuff rock is the extra level where home-made Barbera rests.
The rooms, Olive, Ciel, Rose, Peche, Verte, Jaune, Blanc. Each bedroom has a different colour code characterising its peculiar style and atmosphere. Six bedrooms, plus a suite, become the ideal setting for resting and daydreaming. Antique furniture, matching accessories, an obsessive pursuit of detail expressed in many ways, for example through the perfect restoration work carried out on the frescoed ceilings or the use of techniques from the past for painting the walls.
